Yago Soria Díaz (Mallorca, 1996) is a photographer and educator. At nineteen he left Mallorca for El Valle, Samaná — a small fishing village in the Dominican Republic — where what began as a brief stay became the foundation of a sustained practice. Since 2016, he has worked between these two geographies, returning repeatedly to the same places and building long-term relationships with the communities and landscapes that anchor his projects.

His work moves between documentary observation and deliberate intervention. He pays close attention to small gestures, informal rituals, and the symbolic structures that quietly organise daily life. Images sit in the space between the candid and the constructed, without resolving that tension. This approach is most fully developed in his ongoing projects Monte y Culebra, rooted in the Dominican Republic, and Fukú no Unagi, which was shortlisted for the Kassel Dummy Award.

Yago completed the MA in Contemporary Documentary Photography at LABASAD in 2024 and currently teaches in the school's MA in Professional Photography. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Spain and the Dominican Republic.

In 2025, he received El Gran Proyector from Foto Colectania and a Bronze at the ADCE Student Awards. In 2026, he was selected for the Portfolio Reviews at Les Rencontres d'Arles, for PHotoESPAÑA Talento a Bordo PRO, and for FotoFest Meeting Place Houston, supported by the Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics. That same year, Cortona On The Move, in collaboration with the IEB, commissioned him to develop a new photographic project in Italy, to be presented as an exhibition within the festival.

He is currently preparing his first photobook while continuing to expand his practice across Mallorca, the Dominican Republic, and international contexts.
